Privacy policy

Last updated: 2 November 2026

This policy explains what personal data FarWay collects through this website, why we collect it and what your rights are under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). At the moment, the only personal data we collect is the email address you give us when you join our waitlist.

Who we are

The data controller for the personal data described in this policy is Charlie Lilley, trading as FarWay. You can contact us about anything in this policy at charlesalilley@gmail.com.

What we collect

When you join the waitlist, we store:

  • your email address
  • the date and time you signed up

We don't ask for your name or any other details, and we don't use cookies or tracking on this site. Like most websites, our hosting provider may briefly keep technical logs (such as IP addresses) to keep the service secure and running.

Why we use it

We use your email address only to tell you when FarWay launches and to send you occasional updates about the service. We won't sell it, and we won't share it with anyone for their own marketing.

Our lawful basis is your consent, which you give by submitting the waitlist form. You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing us or using the unsubscribe link in any email we send.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run the site. They process data only on our instructions:

  • Supabase — stores the waitlist database on servers in Ireland (EU)
  • Vercel — hosts the website

Storing the waitlist in Ireland means your email address is transferred outside the UK. This is covered by UK adequacy regulations, which recognise that the EU protects personal data to an equivalent standard. If any provider processes data elsewhere, we rely on other safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

How long we keep it

We keep your email address until you ask us to remove it, you unsubscribe, or we close the waitlist — whichever comes first. If we stop running the waitlist, we'll delete the list.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • ask us to correct it if it's wrong
  • ask us to delete it
  • withdraw your consent at any time
  • ask us to restrict or stop using your data
  • ask for your data in a portable format

How to request deletion

To be removed from the waitlist, or to make any other request, email charlesalilley@gmail.com from the address you signed up with, saying what you'd like us to do. We'll confirm once it's done and respond within one month at the latest. There's no charge.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page if anything changes — for example, when we launch the full site. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
